EVERETT, Mass. — State public health officials are monitoring reports of a respiratory illness at an Everett hotel serving as an emergency assistance shelter site for homeless families.
No active cases of tuberculosis have been identified at the enVision Hotel Boston-Everett at 1834 Revere Beach Parkway, and the local Board of Health is involved in monitoring the situation at the hotel, public health officials tell Boston 25.
“The Healey-Driscoll Administration is committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of those in our Emergency Assistance (EA) system. DPH, along with our partners providing EA support and clinical care, has led a robust response to reports of a respiratory illness at one of our EA shelter sites that includes treatment of anyone symptomatic and infection control measures,” a Massachusetts Department of Public Health spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.
The DPH is working with clinical partners to test and treat symptomatic individuals, and the state is providing infection control and treatment resources including masks, COVID tests, thermometers, medication, hand hygiene supplies, and disinfectant wipes, public health officials tell Boston 25.
Infection control measures are in place on-site, including encouraging isolation of symptomatic individuals and masking in public areas, public health officials said.
Anyone with medical needs is being assessed upon entry into the emergency assistance system, health officials said.
The emergency assistance shelter at the enVision Hotel Boston-Everett is being run by the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities with a contract with La Collaborativa in Chelsea as the service agency, officials said.
