Mass. — The Department of Homeland Security is reminding Mass residence to get a Real ID.
All residents over the age of 18 must have a REAL ID by May 3, 2023, or they will not be able to fly within the United States or enter certain federal facilities.
This deadline was extended from the previous October 1, 2021 deadline, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to get a Massachusetts Real ID, drivers need to go any branch of the Department of Motor Vehicles and present the following documents:
- Social Security Card OR document with your social security number;
- A document proving US Citizenship OR lawful presence, such as a passport
- 2 documents proving MA residency such as a bank statement and utility bill.
