Randolph woman arrested after assualting an off-duty officer

STOUGHTON, Mass. — Stoughton police have arrested a woman who allegedly struck the vehicle of an off-duty officer and fled in an apparent road rage incident.

On Sunday afternoon, December 22, Police were dispatched to 278 Washington Street for a disturbance call by an off-duty officer who had called the station to report he was following the vehicle after it side-swiped his car.

Upon arrival, police saw two vehicles stopped in a parking lot. That’s when one of the officers witnessed 20-year-old Vashiyra Mason of Randolph grab a woman by the hair and punch her in the back of her head multiple times.

The off-duty officer attempted to de-escalate the situation, identifying himself as a Stoughton Police Officer.

Mason became belligerent, using slurs and striking the off-duty officer multiple times. The officer then restrained Mason to prevent her from either injuring herself or him.

Then, the passenger in Mason’s car, a 19-year-old Brockton woman, began to hit the officer multiple times in the back of his head and neck. She then attacked a woman who was with the off-duty officer.

The 19-year-old Brockton woman is charged with:

  • Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
  • Assault and Battery
  • Resisting Arrest

Mason was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault and Battery
  • Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License

Mason was arraigned on Monday.
