BOSTON — The 4th annual Rally 4 Nally polar plunge took place on Saturday to raise awareness and donations for ALS.
Rally 4 Nally, is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Cathy Nally, who passed away in August 2022 from a two-year battle with ALS.
The event is to raise awareness and support for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), which is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease that weakens muscles and limits physical function.
The event took place at Carson Beach Saturday afternoon with joyous individuals rocking funny costumes, getting ready to take an icy plunge into the Boston coast water.
“This year we will reach a big milestone as we close in on raising $400,000 across four plunges and this year’s event coincides with Cathy’s birthday on January 4th. The money supports other families who are dealing with the physical, mental, and financial tolls that an ALS diagnosis can take.” Said Dan Nally, Cathy’s son. “. We are so thankful for our family, friends, and the greater community who have supported our mission and Mom’s memory. We invite all to join us on January 4th, to wear blond curly wigs and jump into the ocean to help raise additional money and awareness.”
