RANDOLPH, Mass. — A recent Brockton High School graduate has died from the injuries he suffered in a violent crash in Randolph that also claimed the life of his younger brother, officials announced Thursday.
Officers responding to a report of a crash in the area of 701 North Main Street just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday found a 2011 Nissan Altima that had veered off the road and collided with a tree, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.
Makhi Boston, 18, of Brockton, was flown to Boston Medical Center, where he ultimately passed away. His younger brother, Terry Boston, Jr., 15, also of Brockton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other female passengers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment.
Makhi was a 2023 graduate of Brockton High School and Terry was a “rising” 10th-grade student, a spokesperson for Brockton Public Schools said.
“It is difficult to express the profound sense of loss felt within our city. These were two young people whose positive influence extended far beyond the walls of our school building. We will come together as a community to support their loved ones and honor their lives,” the spokesperson said.
An investigation indicated that Makhi was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the DA’s office.
“The Randolph police and Norfolk District Attorney’s Office wish to extend our sincere condolences to the parents, family, and friends of these two young men,” Morrissey said in a statement.
Rahshaun Burkes, who coached both brothers in their younger football years, described the boys as dedicated young men from a great family with bright futures ahead.
Brockton Public Schools is offering counseling and social-emotional support from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for any student or staff member in need of assistance.
An investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash remains open and ongoing.
