Prices at Boston area gas station nearing $6.00 a gallon

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

BOSTON — Another day another record for gas prices. AAA is reporting prices went up again overnight.

Some experts say most gas stations could reach $5 a gallon in less than two weeks. Prices are already $5.19 a gallon for regular unleaded, and unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they are going down any time soon.

However, Wednesday night Boston 25 spoke to a Mobil Gas station in Boston that was seen selling regular unleaded for $5.65 cash per gallon and $5.76 credit per gallon.

According to that Mobil station right off of I-93, they said prices are set by Mobil corporate office.

According to AAA, gas prices went up three cents overnight to $4.792 a gallon for regular unleaded here in Massachusetts. That’s slightly above the national average, which is $4.715 a gallon. Meanwhile, the average gas prices in Boston have reached $4.813 a gallon for regular unleaded which is slightly above the city’s average from Wednesday of $4.784 a gallon.

The Biden administration has tried to lower gas prices by dipping into the country’s petroleum reserve. Other states are trying to help by temporarily suspending their gas tax, including Connecticut.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
