MANSFIELD, Mass. — A wrong way driver on Route 495 North caused a head-on collision that left one woman dead and another person Med-Flighted to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital with serious injuries, Massachusetts State Police said.
Just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, officers started receiving calls of a vehicle driving south on the northbound side of 495 in Mansfield, police said. They quickly responded to the area in an attempt to locate that driver.
Shortly thereafter, State Police arrived at the scene of a head-on collision involving the wrong way driver of a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, and a 2019 Toyota Camry. The Toyota Camry was driving in the correct direction on Route 495 North.
The operator of the Toyota, 31-year-old Kerrie Dolbashian of Smithfield, Rhode Island, was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Nissan was transported by Med-Flight to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital with serious injuries. It is unclear if the driver of the Nissan, a 35-year-old person from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, will be charged.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by Mass State Police.
