Police investigating after pedestrian struck, killed in Boston

BOSTON — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Boston on Wednesday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Tremont Street and Malcolm X Boulevard in the city’s Roxbury neighborhood just before 5:45 a.m. found a person injured in the street, according to the Boston Police Department.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was later pronounced dead.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene.

Video captured by a Boston 25 News photographer showed a large area near the Reggie Lewis Center roped off with yellow tape.

Police warned motorists that traffic in the area will be impacted for the morning commute.

Homicide and fatal collision teams are investigating the crash.
