ABINGTON, Mass. — The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Sunday night that the death of a man is being investigated as a homicide by local and state police.
Police say 43-year-old Anthony Leverone was found unresponsive in his backyard on Friday around 7:30 pm after a well-being check was called in earlier by his family.
Abington fire crews pronounced Leverone dead at the scene at 563 Plymouth Street.
Abington police and Massachusetts State Police immediately launched a death investigation that is now considered a homicide investigation.
Investigators said preliminary evidence points to blunt force trauma injuries as Leverone’s cause of death. The state’s medical examiner has yet to confirm the cause and manner of death.
Police have not reported any arrests in connection with their active and ongoing investigation.
Anyone who has information that may help the investigation is urged to contact Massachusetts State Police at 508-894-2584.
