BRATTLEBORO, VT — Police are investigating the ‘suspicious’ death of a woman whose body was found in Brattleboro, Vermont on Tuesday.

The woman’s body was found in a vehicle on Elliot Street at about 12:55 a.m., according to Vermont State Police.

“The death appeared to be suspicious, and the Brattleboro Police Department requested assistance from the Vermont State Police,” said police.

“The investigation is in its preliminary stages and includes members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Victim Services Unit, and Field Force Division, along with the Brattleboro Police Department,” according to a statement from Vermont State Police.

No connection has been made to the discovery in Vermont and the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a young woman from Harvard, Mass. Mary Anderson was last seen in Hudson, N.H. operating a Toyota Tacoma on Saturday night around 10:30 p.m.

“The body of the victim will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death,” said Vermont State Police “Her identity will be released following further investigation.”
