WEST BROOKFIELD, Mass — Police are investigating after zip lock bags targeting the Jewish community were distributed in North Brookfield Tuesday.

North Brookfield Police say several West Brookfield residents reported receiving bags containing rice and offensive content.

The Anti-Defamation League of New England was contacted after the incident. After consultation, police say they believe the bags were distributed by the Goyim Defense League, a neo-nazi extremist group.

“We understand that such actions can be deeply distressing and cause concerns among residents,” North Brookfield police said. “While the content may be protected by free speech laws, we recognize the impact it can have on those affected. We want to assure the community that we take this incident seriously.”

“GDL’s overarching goal is to expel Jews from America. To that end, their propaganda casts aspersions on Jews and spreads antisemitic myths and conspiracy theories in hopes of turning Americans against Jewish people,” the Anti-Defamation League writes.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
