BOSTON — A driver crashed through two fences before a car went airborne and slammed into the side of a Jamaica Plain home Monday afternoon, leaving the vehicle suspended about 10 feet off the ground.
The crash happened on Glen Road just after 3 p.m. Neighbors said they heard a loud boom before stepping outside to find the car lodged in the side of the house.
“It looked like a movie scene,” neighbor Robert Royals said.
Boston Fire officials said two people were inside the vehicle. Both suffered minor injuries and were rescued after firefighters stabilized the car, which was teetering on the side of the home.
“We shored up from the bottom and the sides,” Deputy Chief Michael Doherty said.
Despite the dramatic damage, the homeowner was not hurt. A neighbor said the room struck by the car is used as a home office and had been occupied earlier in the day.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but fire officials say speed appears to have been a factor.
