Teen dies nearly one week after being hit by car while riding bike in Wareham, DA says

WAREHAM, Mass. — A Wareham teen has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a car on April 18.

The Plymouth County DA’s Office has identified the victim as 14-year-old Tobey Alford.

Authorities say Alford was riding his bike in the area of Sandwich Road and Narrows Road around 8:15 p.m. when he was hit by a Chevrolet Blazer and transported to the hospital for a serious head injury.

Alford was flown to Boston Children’s Hospital for further treatment, but passed away on Monday, the Plymouth County DA said. It is unclear whether or not he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Officials say the woman driving the Chevrolet Blazer remained on scene and cooperated with police. Her identity is not being released.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

No further information was released.
