8-year-old boy flown to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by box truck in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — An eight-year-old boy was flown to a Boston hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a box truck in Bridgewater Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on Scotland Boulevard.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene and then transported him by ambulance to the nearby Scotland Park, where he was picked up by a medical helicopter and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The boy’s condition is not known at this time.

The driver of the truck, a 27-year-old Roslindale man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police said their initial investigation indicates the child was riding a bike when he left the side of the road and rode into the path of the moving truck.

The boy was with a relative at the time of the crash.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
