BOSTON — The sky lit up with fireworks over Boston Common Tuesday for an early New Year’s celebration a few hours before midnight.
A 7 P.M. show was perfect for families with little ones to ring in the New Year.
“We don’t have that in Florida, that’s really cool that they got to see fireworks too you know they never stay up til midnight,” said Rei from Florida.
“It’s nice because you can put your kids to bed at a reasonable hour, they’ve been coming since they were 2,” said Aliza Samuels.
The First Night festivities started at Boston City Hall with live music all night.
“It’s a really cool diverse lineup kind of highlighting all the different cultures that make Boston what it is,” said Cara Willison, who helped organize First Night.
Then a parade marched from City Hall to the Common.
Many say they came to Boston for the holiday from all over the country.
“It’s really like the movies like the Hallmark movies if you’ve seen it feels like that seeing everything all around,” said Kaajal Shah, from California.
Surrounded by holiday lights, family, and friends, it was a picture-perfect way to end 2024.
There will also be a big fireworks display over Boston Harbor at midnight to officially ring in the new year.
