BOSTON — A person who barricaded themselves inside an apartment building in Boston was found dead early Thursday morning after an hourslong standoff, authorities said.
Officers responding to a report of a barricaded person inside the Continuum apartment building in the city’s Allston neighborhood just after 4 p.m. Wednesday evacuated residents as a precaution, according to the Boston Police Department.
A nearly 12-hour standoff ensued, with officials discovering the individual dead following extensive negotiation efforts, police said. Their name hasn’t been released.
Video from the scene showed a heavy emergency presence outside the building, which is located just steps from the Harvard Business School.
The public was urged to avoid the area as the incident unfolded.
There were no additional details immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
