Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Rt. 1 in Saugus

SAUGUS, Mass. — A pedestrian was struck late Tuesday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. in Saugus along Route 1 going northbound.

When officers from the MA State Police Danvers barracks arrived on the scene, troopers assisted the female victim and helped make sure she received treatment from the Saugus Fire Department and EMS.

MassDOT advised other drivers to avoid the area shortly after the crash occurred as the two left lanes were closed as police were investigating the cause of the accident.

MA State Police Trooper James D. DeAngelis told Boston 25 that the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The condition of the female victim is still unknown at this time.
