One person had to be rushed to the hospital after a fire erupted in a Fall River triple-decker early Friday morning.

Firefighters who responded to the multi-family home on Choate Street around 3:45 a.m. were greeted by smoke billowing from the top floor.

Fall River Fire Chief Jeffery Bacon said crews initially received reports that children were trapped on the top floor but all residents made it out safely.

A woman who attempted to put out the fire was taken to the hospital to be treated for her burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
