One person dead after being struck by a vehicle in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Dartmouth police announced that a woman who was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, December 17, has died.

Police were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. to the area of Bridge Street and Water Street to reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a person.

Once on scene, police found a 73-year-old Dartmouth woman on the ground after being struck by a vehicle while on the crosswalk. Fire and rescue arrived moments later and rendered aid to the woman. She was transferred to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, where she passed away.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene after initial investigations determined that a solar glare caused the crash.

The crash currently remains under investigation.
