One dead following single-vehicle crash in Duxbury

DUXBURY, Mass. — One person is dead following a crash in Duxbury.

According to state police, around 5 a.m. on Monday, Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 3 South near mile markers 23.4.

The crash occurred in the area of an inactive construction zone where the travel lanes shift.

The vehicle’s sole occupant was pronounced dead on the scene. Their identity will be withheld until appropriate notifications are made, state police say.

For the safety of motorists, investigators, and highway officials, State Police have closed Route 3 South at Exit 27 and diverted traffic onto Route 139 in Pembroke.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
