MELROSE, Mass — One person was taken into custody after a local police and SWAT team was called to a Melrose home Saturday afternoon.
Melrose Police responded shortly before noon to a home on Sylvan Street for a report of a disturbance with firearms involved.
Areas were asked to avoid the area while police and a Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team were on the scene.
Melrose police say the suspect surrendered to authorities around 1:36 p.m.
Melrose Police Chief Kevin Faller says there is no danger to the community.
Parts of Sylvan Street were shut down while police were at the scene.
