BOSTON — Authorities arrested a New York resident Tuesday night after breaking up an alleged human sex trafficking operation at an apartment complex.

26-year-old Xiaofeng Wang of Oakland Gardens, New York, is charged with deriving support from prostitution and human trafficking.

According to Boston Police, detectives received information that commercial sex activity was taking place in the area of 55 Brighton Avenue and launched an investigation.

Officers surveilled the location, eventually learning that advertisements for sexual services were posted online where “dates” were arranged through a listed phone number.

Acting as sex buyers, members of the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit contacted the provided number and set up terms, pricing, and logistics for services, according to authorities.

Police say the undercover officer made contact with Wang, who led the officer into the lobby of 55 Brighton Avenue. As the two entered the elevator, waiting officers detained Wang while the investigation continued.

Detectives searched the premises and found two apartments within the location that were being used for prostitution, according to police. Between the two apartments, three females were located and officials say they found evidence of commercial sex trafficking, along with approximately $7,021.

Wang is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
