Officials identify victim of deadly Roxbury pedestrian crash

BOSTON — A woman who was hit and killed while walking in Roxbury Wednesday morning has been identified by authorities.

39-year-old Diva Helena Pina De Carvalho was hit by a motor vehicle while at the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard and Tremont Street around 5:48 a.m., according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Pina de Carvalho was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community advocate Domingos Darosa says, “She was a really nice, hardworking lady trying to support her family”

The driver who struck her remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police. It is unclear if they will face any charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
