BOSTON — A fire broke out in Boston’s North End neighborhood Wednesday evening.
Images and video captured at the scene showed a large plume of smoke billowing into the air.
The Boston Fire Department said smoke started showing from the roof at 288 Hanover St. around 5:45 p.m.
The fire appeared to be out by 6:30 p.m.
There were flames on the top floor and heavy smoke in the building, the department said. The fire reached two alarms.
Eight residents were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.
Fire Commissioner Jack Dempsey said firefighters had to navigate tight conditions in the street and limited access to the fire.
