STOUGHTON, Mass. — Police are searching for suspect as they continue to investigate the death of a woman whose body was found in a small building in a yard behind a home in Stoughton on Tuesday.
Park Street residents were startled to learn a woman was killed in their neighborhood.
“Every time there’s something like that happens in this town or anywhere it’s a shock and people need to really change and have a regard for life,” said Frank Costello, a neighbor.
Police say a couple with ties to the property on Park Street found the woman unresponsive Tuesday morning, and when police arrived, they found the woman dead with obvious injuries.
Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey says the victim was 40-year-old Amber Buckner.
Police found her body in an outbuilding on the property behind the house.
“It appears to be some kind of shed-type outbuilding that sometimes is referred to as a rec room, an unattached structure behind the dwelling,” said Morrissey.
Police spent all night searching for evidence to figure out who would kill this woman.
“It takes time, search warrants get in, process the house, obviously question any witnesses, all that’s being done as we speak right now,” said Morrissey.
Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara says this homicide appears to be an isolated case, but it’s still tragic.
“On behalf of the members of the Stoughton Police Department, we’d like to extend our condolences and our heartfelt sorrow for the victim, her family and her friends,” said Chief McNamara.
The family of Amber Buckner started a GoFundMe page to help bring justice.
Morrissey says anyone who may have been in the area Monday night or early Tuesday morning who may have heard something or seen something should call police.
