BOSTON, Mass. — The GOAT is officially going. Former New England Patriot Tom Brady made the announcement on Instagram in an 8 page statement. Missing from that initial statement? Any mention of the Patriots.
This is the the time of year in New England when Tom Brady traditionally would win Super Bowls and then parade around Boston on duck boats. “I mean he is just a God,” one fan said. “His instincts for passing are remarkable,” another fan said. But some fans are wondering where his instincts were when writing his retirement statement when there was no mention of New England. “Oh I was surprised by that,” a fan said.
On Instagram Tom Brady thanked Bucs Teammates, Fans, Tampa, the ownership, coaches, staffers, business partners and family. It wasn’t until Patriots Owner Robert Kraft put out a statement that Brady responded saying Thank you with two hearts. Then hours later Brady posted “Thank You Patriots Nation I’m beyond grateful. Love you all.”
Fans outside TB12 Performance and Recovery Center on Boylston Street in Boston were reacting to the news and statement. “I did read his statement and that made me a little sad but at the same time he did say goodbye to us in a beautiful way when he did leave,” a woman said. “I love that guy, he kinda did us dirty on that Instagram post a little bit but he still did a lot for our team,” a man said.
Some fans were holding out for a Hail Mary of sorts that Brady would do a separate statement exclusively for Pat’s Nation.
