BROOKLINE, Mass. — What’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander, or in this case, the goslings.
Members of the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) and Brookline Animal Control Officer Brian Bridges became concerned when they noticed a family of geese had settled on top of a condominium building at 33 Pond Avenue.
Although the rooftop seemed to be a perfect place for the geese to nest, officials say the goslings would become compromised if their parents were injured because the babies can’t fly and there was no immediate access to food or water.
On Wednesday, ARL Field Services helped the family relocate to a more suitable habitat.
Video shows the team using a net and box to capture and transport the baby geese as well as their mother to Leverett Pond, with the father goose looking on. The male goose was also put in a carrier and later rejoined the family in their new surroundings.
Once on the water, the ARL said the geese began looking for a new place to nest.
