BRAINTREE, Mass. — Braintree Police have gotten several reports about SUCCESS! Real Estate and say that they are in a fact-finding phase right now. They will determine if there is a criminal aspect to the reports of missing money.

SUCCESS! Real Estate has offices across the southeastern part of the state. The company closed its doors suddenly, and when clients and agents went to cash checks sent to them, they bounced, including the check that Sandra Lydon’s mother-in-law went to cash after completing the sale of her house.

“She was told by the bank there was no funds in that account so the check she had was worthless,” said Lydon.

According to Lydon, the listing agent, who is a close family friend, didn’t get their commission either. Between the missing escrow check of just under $3,000, and two agents commissions, missing funds from this sale alone, she says, totals over $20,000.

“In the grand scheme of things she’s not out that much money compared to what she got for the sale of the house. But for them, that’s their livelihood, this time of year, I’m sure they were depending on their checks,” she said.

Lydon says that her mother-in-law has gotten an attorney, and those who are experiencing similar loss are too. She says that the whole family feels terrible for the agents who worked so hard to get the sale through.

“My mother-in-law is a very giving person, she has a heart of gold so she feels just awful,” says Lydon. “She wants to pay their fees out of her own pocket because she just feels horrible.”

Braintree Police say so far no charges have been filed.

After repeated attempts to reach out to SUCCESS! Real Estate we have not heard back for a comment.
