Participants of the “No Book, No Ball” program were awarded with thousands of dollars in scholarships at their Day Party in Roxbury Sunday.
The program helps children succeed in the classroom and on the basketball court. Sunday’s gifted scholarships were to help set up participants for college success.
Nasi Simmons, a recipient of one of the scholarships, told Boston 25 she was honored by the event.
“No Books, No Ball has been my surface level growing up,” To be honored and to be an outstanding player just means so much to me,” said Simmons.
No Books, No Ball was founded in 1991 and services approximately 600 boys and girls each year.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
