N.H. man, accused of stealing over $118k in welfare benefits, pleads guilty

CONCORD, N.H. — A New Hampshire man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to stealing over $118,000 in welfare benefits, U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young announced.

37-year-old Ryan Leblanc of Franklin, N.H. pleaded guilty to one count of making False Statements to receive money from the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and childcare benefits.

Leblanc claimed that the mother of his children was an “absent parent” and did not live at home with him and his kids. This was not the case, as she lived with them.

From March 2019 to December 2023, Leblanc receive SNAP and childcare benefits. Due to the unreported income made by Leblanc’s partner, he received over $118,000 in benefits.

Due to the falsified claims, charges can provide a prison sentence of up to 5 years with 3 years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Leblanc’s sentencing is scheduled for March 31, 2025
