New Hampshire State Police cruiser struck, Trooper sent to hospital

SALEM, N.H. — A New Hampshire State Police trooper was sent to the hospital following a crash, Saturday morning.

The crash took place shortly before 9 a.m. on Route 93 Northbound, in Salem, N.H.

The cruiser was in the far left lane with its emergency lights on, investigating another crash when it was struck from behind, according to N.H. State Police. The trooper was inside of the cruiser when it was struck, according to officials. As a result of the crash, the trooper was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the trooper’s cruiser has been identified as 21-year-old Kylie Garcia from Methuen, Mass. Officials say that Garcia, as well as the passengers in Garcia’s vehicle, were not inured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but “speed, existing road condition and failure to negotiate the cure of the ramp” appear to have played a roll in the crash, according to N.H. State Police.
