REVERE, Mass. — Police chased down a suspect through a Revere neighborhood ordering him to surrender.

“Let me see your hands… Let me see your hands!” police shouted as they closed in.

Revere Police were ordering Juan Pineda, 21, of Lynn to surrender.

“The guy started running up here up the hill,” said Damjan Bozic, who lives on Florence Avenue where police arrested Pineda.

Revere Police took him into custody minutes after a violent encounter with Massachusetts State Police a few blocks away.

“And then he got arrested up here at the end of our street. And then K-9′s showed up too,” Bozic said.

Earlier State Police saw Pineda’s gray Audi in front of a Shirley Avenue store. Pineda was wanted for an outstanding warrant, but when troopers approached him, they say Pineda bolted, hitting one of the two troopers with his car. That’s when shots were fired by one or possibly both troopers.

“I just got out to smoke a cigarette and I saw the car and then heard the gunshots ‘pop, pop.’ It was dangerous,” said Zack Zarrouk who works in a barbershop nearby.

Pineda’s car then flew past Juan Santa’s barbershop around the corner.

“All of a sudden, there’s a car just rushing down Shirley Ave. and it turned on Walnut going up and it went over the sidewalk…and right before that I heard two shots,” Juan Santa said.

That’s when Revere Police rushed to help. They finally located Pineda and placed him under arrest, putting people who live and work nearby at ease.

“Honestly we were a little bit nervous when we heard all the shots. We were kind of ducking in here because it was a little nerve-wracking,” Santa said.

Pineda’s car hit one of those troopers in the leg. But both were taken to Mass General Hospital and both are expected to be ok. Pineda is expected to be arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Thursday morning.
