BOSTON — The jackpot for Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing is the largest in more than a year and the tenth largest prize in the 20-year history of Mega Millions.
$480 million is up for grabs. That’s the largest prize since May 21, 2021, when a $515 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Pennsylvania.
Mega Millions tickets are $2 each and can be purchased until 10:45 p.m. Friday. The drawing is at 11:00 p.m.
The cash option on Friday’s jackpot is $276 million.
The jackpot will need to more than double to reach the largest jackpot ever. In 2018, the Mega Millions jackpot topped out at $1.537 billion when one winning ticket was sold in South Carolina.
