EAST BOSTON — Blue Line riders had to deal with a tough Friday afternoon commute, as the MBTA announced a service disruption.
Shuttle buses replaced service between Wonderland Station and Orient Heights Station due to a disabled train near the Suffolk Downs Station.
The disruption took place after a piece of metal fell. A passenger shared some video from the station. He told Boston 25 that as the train entered the station the large piece of metal fell on to or from the top of the train causing sparks to fly.
He also said one person waiting on the platform to board the train was nearly hit by that piece of metal. It’s unclear exactly what that is. But the T saying the train became disabled somehow.
The Blue Line had been experiencing delays of up to 15 minutes due to that disabled train near Suffolk Downs.
Shuttle buses were running, but are now being phased out.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the MBTA posted an update to their twitter account letting riders know “regularly scheduled service as resumed.”
