BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation on Friday announced that a bridge in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood will be closed until further notice.
Officials decided to close the River Street Bridge out of an abundance of caution after bridge inspectors identified beam deterioration during a “routine and fracture critical inspection,” according to MassDOT.
“This closure is necessary to keep traffic off this bridge while material is ordered, and time is allotted for emergency repairs,” MassDOT said in a statement.
Road closure signs and detours will be posted to guide traffic around the bridge.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
