NEWTON, Mass — A Massachusetts town has recently been ranked ‘America’s wellbeing capital.’
According to a new survey done by The Great Green Wall Health, Newton is the well-being capital of the United States.
The study analyzed data across 562 cities and towns that are part of metropolitan areas. The study ranked each of them against 34 factors, grouped under three pillars that constitute well-being: health, happiness, and prosperity.
Newton outranked 561 metro cities and towns across the US. It scored top marks in seven of the 34 analyzed categories, including health insurance and lack of heart, kidney, and pulmonary diseases.
According to the study, Newton has the lowest level of stroke occurrences in the United States at 1.7%.
Only 2% of adults living in Newton have a chronic disease, and 3.1% have a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Cambridge was also ranked 4 out of the 562 cities across 34 categories for health, happiness, and prosperity. Springfield ranked the lowest for well-being in Massachusetts.
