SEABROOK, N.H. — A 77-year-old Massachusetts man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Seabrook on Tuesday night, state police said.
Eraldo Bezerra of Hudson, Massachusetts died in the crash that occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday, state police said.
At approximately 8:11 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle crash on I-95 north in the town of Seabrook.
A white 2012 Chevrolet Express van had struck a bridge abutment and it was smoking, state police said.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver, later identified as Bezerra, trapped inside the van and unresponsive, state police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation found that the Chevrolet Express Van left the roadway on the right side for an unknown reason, traveled approximately 200 feet in the grass and then struck the bridge abutment at the Route 107 overpass, state police said. The van came to final rest in the right breakdown lane.
Two travel lanes of I-95 north were shut down for approximately two and a half hours while investigators were on scene.
The Seabrook Fire Department responded to assist state police.
