ORANGE, Mass. — A lake in Massachusetts has been ranked among the most beautiful in the United States.
Insider recently published a list called the “most beautiful lake in every state,” and a hidden gem in Massachusetts’ Franklin County earned a shoutout.
“Each state has a lake that is more beautiful than the rest,” Insider wrote. For the Bay State, that lake is Lake Mattawa in Orange.
Lake Mattawa is home to year-round trout fishing and stunning fall foliage.
“Largely surrounded by year-round homes and summer cottages, the lake offers swimming as well as a launch for boats,” Insider wrote.
Other lakes in New England that were recognized are as follows:
- New Hampshire - Lake Winnipesaukee
- Maine - Echo Lake
- Vermont - Lake Champlain
- Connecticut - Lake formed by Saville dam
- Rhode Island - Bowdish Reservoir
