STOUGHTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts woman who allegedly bashed another motorist’s car with a pipe following an apparent road rage crash was arraigned Tuesday from her hospital bed.
Erin McElroy, 44, of East Bridgewater, pleaded not guilty via Zoom in Stoughton District Court to charges of malicious property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and disturbing the peace after she was arrested Monday night in connection with an incident in Stoughton that left another person seriously hurt.
Officers responding to a report of a two-car crash in the area of 218 Canton Street shortly before 4 p.m. learned a vehicle driven by McElroy had rear-ended another vehicle and pushed into a building, according to the Stoughton Police Department.
After crashing, prosecutors allege McElroy exited her car with a metal pipe in hand and repeatedly struck the other vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle pushed into the building was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. McElroy was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for an evaluation.
Additional details on what led up to the crash and pipe attack weren’t immediately available.
A judge ordered McElroy held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Friday.
The incident remains under investigation.
