GREENFIELD, Mass. — A Massachusetts man says he plans to buy a new house after he won a $1 million prize on a $5 Christmas-themed scratch ticket.

John Swan, and his wife, Tracy, both of Greenfield, opted to receive his “$1,000,000 Merry & Bright” prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.

Swan purchased his winning ticket at Orange General Store at 217 East Main Street in Orange. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of this ticket.

The “$1,000,000 Merry & Bright” ticket is one of six holiday-themed tickets that launched in October.

In addition to chances to win top prizes ranging from $500 to $1 million, players can enter non-winning holiday tickets into a drawing for chances to win cash prizes from $100 to $10,000.
