Man held without bail after 32-year-old man found dead in woods in central Mass. town

HUBBARDSTON, Mass. — A Worcester man was held without bail on Monday on charges stemming from the death of 32-year-old Mitchell Burke, whose body was found in the woods in Hubbardston over the weekend.

Ryan Wilcox, 32, stood before a judge in Worcester Central District Court to face charges of armed assault with intent to kill, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of Burke, also of Worcester.

Prosecutors said in court that the date of offense was Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2024.

Officers found Burke’s body in the woods off Brigham Street in Hubbardston just before 10 a.m. Saturday, the district attorney’s office said.

Wilcox was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Jan. 14.
