READING, Mass. — A man was arrested Monday morning for allegedly having a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit in a Stop & Shop parking lot.

Edgyr Annilus, 41, of Needham Heights, is charged with operating under the influence of liquor and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Officers responding to a report of an unresponsive male in a parked vehicle in the area of 25 Walkers Brook Drive around 10:41 a.m. found a blue Nissan Rogue with its engine running and Annilus slumped over the wheel, according to Reading Police.

Authorities made several attempts to wake Annilus before opening the driver’s side door out of concern for his well-being.

Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol on him and found a bottle of liquor on the passenger seat.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test and determined that Annilus was operating under the influence. Authorities say he had a blood alcohol level of .213.

Annilus was arrested and arraigned in Woburn District Court on Tuesday.
