BOSTON — A man is facing several charges after barricading himself in a Hyde Park home and firing a gun.
Andres Rivera, 42, of Boston was taken into custody after Monday morning following an hourslong SWAT standoff at a home in Boston, authorities said.
The standoff unfolded at a home on Hopewell Road off Osceola Street in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood, according to Boston police.
Police said officers responded to the area around 3:34 a.m. for a report of a barricaded suspect.
According to police Rivera fired a gun during the standoff but not an officer. Police said the suspect surrendered to officers after hours of negotiating.
There were no reported injuries during the standoff.
River is being charged with, armed home invasion, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, eleven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (gun), three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, malicious destruction of property over $1,200, two counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, three counts of armed kidnapping, and resist arrest.
Rivera will be arraigned in West Roxbury Court on Tuesday.
