MANCHESTER, NH — A Manchester, New Hampshire man is facing a murder charge after allegedly stabbing a woman to death Thursday, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office said.
54-year-old Robert Eastman was arrested Thursday after police found 59-year-old Laurie MacLellan, also of Manchester, dead in her home. Police were called to her home on Hanover Street shortly before 2:00 am for a wellness check. First responders determined Eastman was dead at the scene from apparent stab wounds to her face and abdomen.
Hours after first deeming the scene a “suspicious death investigation”, a warrant was obtained for Eastman’s arrest and the Manchester man was taken into custody on a second-degree murder charge.
“Mr. Eastman is alleged to have recklessly caused the death of Ms. MacLellan under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by stabbing her in the face and abdomen with a knife,” the AG’s office said in a statement.
Eastman is expected to be arraigned on Friday in Hillsborough County Superior Court.
