Man charged with attempted murder following shooting in NH that severely injured woman, police say

Francisco Garcia Manchester shooting suspect (Manchester NH Police Department)

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A Manchester man turned himself into police on Thursday after a shooting that left a woman in critical condition, according to authorities.

33-year-old Francisco Garcia was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless conduct.

Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of Central and Maple Streets around 6:30 p.m. found a group of people yelling for help outside 341 Central Street.

Once inside, officials say they found a 55-year-old woman hemorrhaging severely from a serious gunshot wound to her arm.

She was transported to an area hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

Investigators determined Garcia knew the victim and also shot at another person before leaving the scene of the crime. He showed up at the Manchester Police Department shortly thereafter to turn himself in.

Police say Garcia had an active bench warrant and a warrant for another agency. Details of those warrants were not immediately available.

Garcia will be arraigned in Manchester District Court on Friday.
