LUNENBURG, Mass. — A man has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of his girlfriend at a Lunenburg trailer park where they lived together, authorities said.

Orlando Garcia Rosado, 57, of Lunenburg was held without bail in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 53-year-old Maria Murray. He pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault and battery on a household or family member during his arraignment in Fitchburg District Court on Wednesday,

Prosecutors said in court that Rosado assaulted and beat Murray, his live-in girlfriend, with the intent to kill her.

Officers responded to a trailer park complex at 1790 Massachusetts Ave. after police received a 911 call at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday reporting Murray had been stabbed by Rosado, her boyfriend.

When officers arrived, they found Murray, the victim, lying face down on the kitchen floor and suffering from multiple stab wounds to her back, prosecutors said. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Rosado and Murray were in a dating relationship and living at the trailer park together, prosecutors said.

Surveillance video captured Murray’s red Subaru Impreza, being driven by Rosado, fleeing from the residence at a high rate of speed following the stabbing, authorities said. Police later located the vehicle on Interstate 290 in Worcester and stopped Rosado, the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was placed into custody and taken to the state police barracks in Holden.

According to the arrest report, investigators interviewed Rosado at the state police barracks, and learned that Rosado and Murray had an argument while they were in their kitchen.

Rosado “then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Maria Murray,” the report states.

An investigation is ongoing. Rosado was held without bail until a probable cause hearing on Feb. 6.
