MALDEN, Mass. — City officials in Malden are mourning the unexpected death of a 33-year-old police officer.
Shawn J. Dillon, a patrol officer, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, according to the Malden Police Department.
Dillon joined the department in 2019 and is said to have served the community with pride.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of our beloved officer,” the department wrote in a Facebook post.
Malden firefighters added, “Our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Malden Police Department and to the family and loved ones of Officer Shawn Dillon. May you rest in peace brother.”
Massachusetts State Police added, “We are very sorry for your loss. Officer Dillon’s family at home — and his Malden police family — are in our thoughts.”
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home in Woburn on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass has been planned for 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Charles Church in Woburn.
