Malden fire sends firefighter to hospital, 21 people displaced

MADLEN, Mass. — Fire tore through a multi-family home in Malden, Monday night.

Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of 63 Lowell St, as firefighters battled the fire.

According to fire officials, the fire caused extensive damage to the second floor of the building, as well as the attic.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation, according to Malden Fire Chief Bill Sullivan. Chief Sullivan says that firefighter is expected to be OK.

15 adults and 6 children live in the Lowell St home, none of which were injured in the fire according to Chief Sullivan. It is unknown how many were home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
