CHELSEA, Mass. — A major water main break in Chelsea closed Sagamore Ave. for a few hours on Saturday morning, according to Chelsea Chief of Police Brian Kyes. But around 12:30 p.m., he said that the city has water and crews will “have it back online by the end of the day.”
Update on Water Break >: The City currently has water service. Initially the water rushed out of the break so quick of the 12” main that it drained all the pipes. The issue now is confined to about a block or so without water. They will have it back online by the end of the day.

Kyes tweeted around 9:30 a.m. that Sagamore Ave. was closed after a large hole formed in the road between Cheever and Murray Streets. He added that water was rushing down to Garfield and Revere Beach Parkway.
Water was shut down and he said MBTA buses were rerouting.
