BOLTON, Mass. — LIV Golf is coming to Massachusetts this week for its fourth event of the year and a number of the top players in the game are slated to tee it up, including Cameron Smith, the second-ranked golfer in the world.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to The International Golf Club in the small town of Bolton for the LIV Golf Boston event.
In addition to Smith, Joaquin Niemann (world No. 19), Harold Varner III (world No. 46), Cameron Tringale (world No. 55), Marc Leishman (world No. 62), and Anirban Lahiri (world No. 92) are all expected to make their LIV debut in a field that consists of 48 golfers.
Smith will become the highest-ranked player to compete in a LIV Golf event. He recently won the 2022 Open Championship in July at St Andrews.
Other top golfers making the trip to Massachusetts include Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka.
LIV is financially backed by the government of Saudi Arabia and was established to rival the PGA Tour.
The PGA Tour has banned all players who are teeing it up in LIV Golf and those who play in future events.
